Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 1, 2026

Overview

SinglesAdvocate takes your privacy seriously — especially when it comes to your dating preferences. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it. The short version: your preferences are private, your data is not sold, and your advocates cannot see your filter criteria.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

Email address, name, and password when you create an account. Phone number if you opt into phone verification.

Profile Information

Information you provide for your dating profile: name, age, gender, location, bio, occupation, education, lifestyle details (religion, drinking, smoking, wants kids), and photos.

Private Preferences

Your dating preferences — age range, gender preference, religion preference, maximum distance. These are stored separately from your profile and have the strictest access controls in our system. They are never shared with any other user, including your advocates and matches.

Usage Data

We collect standard usage data (pages visited, actions taken) to improve the platform. We do not track you across other websites.

Chat Messages

Messages sent between advocates in the chat system are stored to facilitate the matching process. Singles do not have access to advocate chat conversations.

2. How We Use Your Data

DataPurpose
Profile infoDisplayed to advocates during browsing
Private preferencesServer-side filtering only — never displayed to anyone
Chat messagesFacilitate advocate-to-advocate conversations
Email addressAccount access, notifications, security alerts
Usage dataPlatform improvement and bug fixes

3. Preference Confidentiality

Your dating preferences deserve special attention. Here is exactly how they are protected:

  • Stored in a separate database table with the strictest access policy — only you can read your own preferences.
  • Your advocates cannot see your preferences. They see candidates that have already been filtered, without knowing the filter criteria.
  • Your matches cannot see your preferences.
  • Preferences are read server-side using a privileged database connection. The filtering criteria are never included in any API response sent to the browser.
  • We do not collect race or ethnicity data. There is no field for it in our database, making race-based filtering structurally impossible.

4. Data We Do Not Collect

We deliberately do not collect: race or ethnicity, income or financial information, body type measurements (height is optional profile info only), political affiliation, health information, or social media accounts.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell your data. Period. We share data only in these cases:

  • With other users: Your profile information is visible to advocates during browsing. Your name and profile are visible to your match after both sides approve.
  • Service providers: We use trusted third parties for hosting (Vercel), database (Supabase), email (Resend), and payments (Stripe). These providers process data on our behalf under strict agreements.
  • Legal requirements: If required by law, court order, or to protect safety.

6. Data Security

All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Database access is controlled by Row Level Security policies that enforce access rules at the database level — not just in the application code. Authentication uses industry-standard protocols with secure session management.

7. Your Rights

You can:

  • Access and download your data at any time
  • Edit or delete your profile and preferences
  • Delete your account and all associated data
  • Opt out of non-essential emails
  • Request a copy of all data we hold about you

To exercise these rights, email privacy@singlesadvocate.com.

8. Data Retention

Active accounts: data retained while your account is active. Deleted accounts: profile data removed within 30 days. Chat messages: retained for 90 days after account deletion for safety review purposes, then permanently deleted. Usage logs: retained for 12 months.

9. Children

SinglesAdvocate is for users 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If we discover an underage account, it will be immediately terminated.

10. Changes to This Policy

We will notify you of material changes via email. Minor changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above. Your continued use of the Service constitutes acceptance.
